Overcome a phobia or fear

It is not necessary to suffer with a phobia any longer. With NLP Coaching most people overcome a phobia or irrational fear in just a few sessions.

 

Common phobias include:

  • Fear of spiders
  • Fear of flying
  • Fear of heights
  • Fear of confined or open spaces
  • Fear of injections
  • Fear of social occasions
  • Fear of germs or dirt
  • Fear of thunder and lightening
  • Fear of specific animals – such as dogs or cats

Common symptoms can include:

Sweating, dizziness, nausea, breathlessness, shaking, palpitations, an instinct to flee or persistent worrying about an upcoming event that might involve the phobia.

 

Overcoming an irrational fear or phobia.

A phobic response is often the result of some intense experience we had when we were younger. We develop a response to protect ourselves from some painful or fearful situation. This response is unconscious and triggered automatically. So even though you know it may not be logical to keep having the phobic response, it still happens.

Many people cannot even remember when the first occasion was and for others they can relate it to an experience when they were just a few years old.

 

Getting rid of the phobia or fear.

Given that this is an unconscious and automatic response, we need to deal with it at that level. (That’s why just telling yourself not to be afraid hasn’t worked.)  NLP has a number of very successful techniques and processes that we use to create change.

 

The NLP fast phobia cure is just one of these techniques which can be used. This process helps us remove all the unconscious feelings from the way we store all the past experiences; it’s a kind of ‘reset button’ for the brain which allows us to behave in a normal way again. Phobia of frogs

A phobia cure story

Sue, now in her 30’s, couldn’t enjoy her own garden because she was afraid of coming across a frog. Just the thought of a frog was enough to make her break out in a sweat.

It turned out that when Sue was very young she used to like frogs and even bring them into her bedroom to play with them. Then one day her father found a frog in her wardrobe and screamed at her, saying that she would wake up and find them all over her and in her hair. Ever since that moment, Sue couldn’t get the image and feeling of frogs in her hair out of her mind.

Martin took Sue through the NLP Fast Phobia Cure process and almost immediately she felt like she wanted to get out in the garden. And after a little more work together, to check and test out the change, the fear of frogs had completely disappeared.
